As everyone makes their way back to the classroom, we thought we’d give you some great deals to help you start the semester off right. Check out the plethora of sale items this week, including some stellar bombers from Rogness Brewing Company, our Pflugerville neighbors. Their Joie d’Ete, a saison brewed with lavender and vanilla, has been one of our favorite summer beers this year. Welcome back, college students! Good luck with the new school year, little ones!
It’s time to select our next Community Partner!
We can’t believe it’s almost been six months since we first teamed up with the Kealing Middle School PTA as our non-profit partner. Alas, it’s time to select our next non-profit partner. Do you or someone you know belong to or support a great 501c3 organization in town that you’d like to nominate? Have them fill out our application before September 5th and we’ll be in touch!
From one of our favorite breweries in town comes some of our favorite beer, now available in bombers. These are sure to wet your whistle!

Haak Vineyards and Winery out of Santa Fe, TX uses 100% Texas grapes for this delicate, dry white. Light and elegant with a clean and crisp finish, it has shades of white linden blossom, peach, pear, and lemongrass. Pairs well with fish, poultry, cheese, and creamy pasta dishes. Grab a whole bottle (on sale all week!) or enjoy a glass up front and see what you think.
Summer Recipe: The Easiest Okra Recipe Ever
This time of year in this part of the country, there’s one thing you can count on finding in abundance: okra. Not too many other crops are so well suited to the dog days of summer. Our okra comes to us fresh daily from Sue’s Garden, a backyard master gardener just down Walnut St. (literally 200 yards from our store!). She’s been growing vegetables there for over 20 years
and boy does she know what she’s doing. Her okra, for example, is tender no matter the size (unlike most okra, which gets “woody” when it grows beyond a few inches in length). Here’s a super easy way to serve up this quintessentially southern vegetable.
The World’s Easiest Okra Recipe
Grill, broil, or pan toast (in a heavy cast iron skillet) whole okra pods until they turn a nice golden brown. No oil/butter or salt/pepper necessary! Try ’em in the toaster oven for breakfast (!) or throw a bunch on the grill as a side for family dinner. These will pleasantly surprise the whole family (and please the family doctor!).
