Happy Thanksgiving & “Green” Friday
Today, we are thankful for family, community and our loved ones. We are grateful to gather around the people we love and cook good food. This week we have focused on why we do what we do, and we looked at this project as a reflection on why seasonal, sustainable and local food is so important. One of our conclusions is that without this amazing community of ours, we wouldn’t be here. It’s because of your support that we are able to bring local food to our neighborhood in East Austin, and we are endlessly grateful.
So grateful in fact, that we are going to be closed on Black Friday. The day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year. Hoards of people stress themselves out as they get on the road, stand in line and buy more stuff. Lots of stuff. Stuff they probably don’t need. They take the gentle calming nature of Thanksgiving, turn it on its head and a lot of stress and anger rise to the surface.
We aren’t fans of stress or anger. So we are going to close on Black Friday. We’re calling it “Green Friday”, and we hope you understand why we decided to close. We are going to give our employees a chance to be with their loved ones and we are encouraging people to stay home, slow down and take the day off to continue the celebration of community that Thanksgiving inspires.
Happy Thanksgiving and happy Green Friday, we will see you all this weekend!
