Daily Greens Cleanse: Day One from Jess

10/17/13 Pre-Cleanse Day:

I’ve done plenty of juice cleanses, and I actually love them, but the hardest thing is getting yourself mentally prepared for the undertaking. I knew I had to do this because my body has been SCREAMING that things need to change. Weight gain, lack of energy, skin break outs, muscle aches. I am ready.

I prepped yesterday by eliminating caffeine, cooked foods, gluten, and dairy. I only ate raw fruits, veggies, seeds, nuts, and fresh juice. It felt weird to not have my ritual cup of coffee in the morning. My head began to throb around noon (from caffeine withdrawals) and I became increasingly sluggish towards the end of the day. I was in bed by 9:30 pm (an unheard of thing for me).

10/18/13 Day 1:

Surprisingly my headache is gone, I was expecting at least one more day. I had a juice in the morning and snacked on some raw pumpkin seeds and cashews mid day. My body is colder than usual, so I’m keeping a few layers on. The weather isn’t helping either, since overcast days always make me want to lay in bed. Quinn made some awesome garden salads with our in.store produce, and then decided to make delicious pico de gallo. The worst thing about cleansing is not having the same salad dressing you usually eat. So I decided to pile the pico on my salad and use that instead. Best idea I ever had. Right now I’m finishing up my “lunch” bottle of Daily Greens-Vitality. Besides just wanting to nap, I’m actually not feeling too bad.

After work I had to run some errands and was surprised I didn’t want to face plant into the ground from exhaustion. My energy level was low, but manageable, so I bought some snacks and produce and anxiously awaited making my dinner. I had celery, carrots, red bell peppers, cucumbers, avocado, sunflower sprouts, and my daily greens juice. I filled the entire plate which I think psychologically helped, but when it came down to it, I couldn’t even finish it all. The pain in my left piriformis, hamstring, and calve still exists, but the sharpness has minimized. I’m getting another deep tissue massage tomorrow to work out that area, so I’m optimistic it’ll give me some relief.

  1. Please continue to update, I plan on doing this later this week, just working on pre-cleanse right now, mainly eliminating coffee :-(

    • Glad to hear you’re going to take part in the cleanse! I had to do 4 days of pre-cleansing as well to get rid of the caffeine headaches. Swing by the store and chat with us if you have any more questions!
