Featured ATX Food Blog :: Mad Betty Blog
Sometimes it’s nice to read a blog that isn’t 100% all about food. That’s where Mad Betty Blog comes in. If we were to describe Mad Betty in one word it would be spunky. This blog covers all the bases from beauty, books and food to religion and health. She’s got you covered.
It’s your one stop shop for pop culture, with a dash of really awesome recipes thrown in. Where else can you go on the internet that has recaps of Mad Men and Breaking Bad alongside recipes for cashew cheese and roasted brussels sprouts? Oh yeah, she also cooks healthy local seasonal food (what a gem.)
All in all, once you read the Mad Betty Blog you’ll want to invite her to dinner and have her catch you up on all the latest while simultaneously feeding you. This isn’t a blog to miss.
How did you discover your love of food and writing?
My mother is a great cook and I grew up eating fresh, seasonal food with an emphasis on local produce and seafood. I’ve always appreciated simple cooking that highlights food’s natural beauty and flavor. When I blog about food, I maintain that same love of simplicity and artful execution, whether it’s a recipe or a restaurant review.
What is your favorite ingredient to use in the kitchen?
My favorite ingredients are dictated by my Jersey Shore upbringing. I love to cook with ripe tomatoes, garlic, lemons, white wine, and the freshest fish I can find.
What is your best memory in the kitchen?
These flavors and their wonderful smells remind me of cool summer nights, holidays, and gatherings with family. My favorite food memories are all wrapped up in special occasions and celebration.
What is the best thing about your kitchen?
I live in an apartment with a kitchen that’s far too small for the amount of cooking I do. But it has my can’t-live-without appliance: a dishwasher. My dream kitchen is open, airy, and provides lots of natural light. I’d love Spanish tiles and a huge collection of professional knives. But if I can’t have it all, I’d settle for more cabinet space.
What 3 guests would you like to have at your dinner table?
My three ideal dinner guests would be Jerry Seinfeld, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Yes, I’m looking to laugh at this meal. We’ll probably drink some wine, but will be more into the espresso after the meal. Naturally, we’ll discuss our favorite TV shows and determine that the Golden Girls was the best of all time.
Here are three of the most popular recipes on Mad Betty. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Share them with friends, family, and a few hearty laughs.
