There is something so charming about Homestead Gristmill. Located in Waco, Texas, the folks from Homestead Gristmill grow and grind wheat in their historic timber-frame mill. The mill, built in 1760 in New Jersey, was used until 1918. After discovering it in disrepair, it was brought to Texas in 2011 where it found its new home at the Ploughshare Institute for Sustainable Culture.

Open to the public year round, they grind fresh whole wheat flour and corn meal daily. All of the grains are grown without chemical pesticides and fertilizers and they use sustainable growing and processing methods. We have their whole wheat flour and whole wheat biscuit mix, perfect pantry staples. Try out their cream biscuit recipe and we guarantee you’ll be hooked.
