Meet the Brewer: Rogness Brewing Company

with one comment

Happy Austin Beer Week!

We wanted to join in the festivities and celebrate a local brewery. This Wednesday, October 24th, we’ll be hosting the Rogness Brewing Company.

You can swing by and meet the brewer from 5-8 pm and try out some of their delicious beer, which we’ll feature all evening.

We will have a raffle with giveaways from in.gredients and Yoga Yoga (a chance to win a month of unlimited yoga while drinking beer? Sounds like a good evening to us.)

Rogness Brewing Company specializes in small, handcrafted batches of beer. Having owned a successful home-brew supply shop for 10 years the owners, Forrest and Diane Rogness, are no stranger to experimenting with different hops and unique ingredients.

This Wednesday we will feature four types of Rogness beer on tap:

Rogtoberfest (Oktoberfest)- A seasonal beer, this malty beer uses Smaragd (German for emerald) hops. Beer drinkers can expect a smooth beer with a pleasant but not overpowering floral nose.

Rook (Scotch Ale)- This beer has a bold malt character. Peat smoked malt creates a distinctive earthy scottish flavor that complements English toffee notes.

Ost (Porter)- Seven different malts and three different hops go into our Porter for a smooth, complex flavor. It offers a bold roast flavor with a rich smoothness and  a dry finish.

Yogi (Spiced Amber)- Diane, an active yogi, created this beer to show her love for the practice. With a consistent practice at Austin’s own Yoga Yoga, the beer has similar tastes to the tea served after practice. This beer has a rich copper color with aromas of honey, oak, lavender and black tea. This is an exotic beer, with Saigon cinnamon, clove, ginger, cardamom and black pepper.
