About Houston Dairymaids

Houston Dairymaids is a five-year-old venture from seasoned cheese professional, Lindsey Schechter. Part business and part exploration, our goal is to meet artisan Texas cheesemakers, learn about their craft, and bring the best of their products to Houston. We look for cheeses naturally made by hand, and, when possible, from unpasteurized milk.

Through our cheese tastings and work with area chefs, we hope to share our experiences while expanding the offerings of specialty foods to our community.

Products

Prosciutto Americano, La Quercia: Artisan Iowa Prosciutto, Humanely-raised Pork, 100% hormone free

Castelvetrano-Sicilian Green Olives: These beautiful, bright green round olives come from the town of Castelvetrano in Sicily. They are unique in their firm, fresh texture and buttery flavor.

Mozzarella Company’s Fresh Mozzarella: Handmade to order in Dallas, Texas, Paula’s mozzarella is as good as you can get without a plane ticket to Italy. Made with cow’s milk, it is soft in texture and full of flavor. The perfect start to a great Caprese salad.

Pure Luck Farm Fresh Chevre: Spunky 30-year-old Amelia Sweethardt may be one of the most promising farmstead cheesemakers in America. At Pure Luck Farm and Dairy in Dripping Springs, she milks an adorable herd of Nubian and Alpine goats to make an exceptional selection of fresh and aged goat’s cheeses. Because it is hand-made, her chevre is creamy, with lovely herbal undertones.
